Development of the Stress Coping Resource Inventory for Mothers of Children with Disabilities

Abstract
This study aimed to develop Stress Coping Resource Inventory (SCRI) for mothers of children with disabilities. First, the individual resource inventory identified five factors and these include sense of humor, self-esteem, positive thinking, active attitude, and self-management. Second, the family resource inventory comprised three factors including emotional support from family members, family problem solving capability, and family communication and participation. Finally, the society¡¯s resource inventory revealed five factors including support from others, communication with parents of children with disabilities, financial resources, utilization of community resources, and utilization of expert resources. In validity examination of SCRI, the individual, family, and society resource inventory showed a negative correlation with the stress inventory and a positive correlation with coping behavior and life satisfaction inventory.
